It's too bad that there weren't any results at the Hamber tournament! If there were, NRP surely would've ranked highly. Only one day after the Byng tournament, the NRP debaters were back at it! Debating two rounds of impromptu debates and being treated to pizza later.
Sixteen NRP kids were at this tournament! Eight teams of talented, enthusiastic -and at times- confused debaters, debating the topics THBT Nationalism does more harm than good, and THBT Unseated land should be returned to the autonomy of the First Nations People. Luckily, at this tournament, they got to debate some people their own age!
Overall, it was a fun night, and a lot of hard work was put in! It was a perfect chance to get some extra practice in before the Regionals tournament, and also to get some incredible photos in during the tournament (Shout out to David - these are some beautiful pictures)!
Most of all let's give a shout out to all the debaters that attended, especially the ones who went to Byng the night prior! Boy, they must have been exhausted! Good for you, Sidd and Prakrit, Richard and Leo and Ali and Jon!
Kudos to the St. George debaters who came to Hamber in search of more practice! Nice job, Mila and Vlada and Charles and Bryan!
And props to the kids who were brave enough to come out for their first tournament! You have a great debating career ahead of yourselves, Lichia and Jenny, Brian and Muhammad and Andy and Kevin!
You guys are all amazing and I could not be more proud of your achievements considering the short amount of time you've had to practice; nothing but bright futures for you all!!!!
(Thanks to the Hamber organizers, too. They're the ones that let us send so many teams and made it possible for everyone to try debating)
