Happy New Year 2015, Debaters! Thanks for making my job as your coach in 2014 so much fun! Here's to an even better 2015, filled with even better speaking and debates!
So let's get 2015 off to good start by attending some tournaments.
Eric Hamber Secondary is hosting a debate tournament on 9th January! That's one day after the Byng tournament, which is on the 8th! I know it's short notice, but it's a great opportunity! The tournament is going to be 2 rounds of impromptu debate, so there is nothing to prepare. Just bring yourself and a smile (and your brain, you kind of need that for debate!). It's after school and it's the perfect way to get some competitive debate tournament experience. If you've ever wanted to compete, but haven't been able to for whatever reason, this is your chance!
Remember that you cannot go to Regionals (15/16 January) if you haven't competed in a smaller tournament before.
So, if you want to be considered for Regionals, or just get some practice in before you head off to Regionals, I suggest you sign up. I'm not sure how many teams we can send, but will let you guys know as soon I know.
I will visit NRP after the break to see who is interested. If you are, comment below or email me at [email protected].
Get your parents permission and get debating! I hope to see some interest! Have a great rest of the year!
